Teaser Tuesday!!! (1)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should be Reading
"Too many kids here," Grimalkin said, glancing nervously over his shoulder. "Too much imagination. They can see us, you know. As we really are. And unlike the hob over there, I do not relish the attention."
I love this book :) This is my first all fey book, Ive read books that have some side characters that are faerys but I really hadnt got a feel for the fey till now. I am excited about this series and sad that it took me this long to start reading it. I am almost finished with The Iron King and am not really sure if Im team Puck or team Ash. If you've read this series please feel free to let me know which team you are on. (no spoilers though please:)

If your interested and you live in the South (US) then hope on over there and sign up on the blog. I have already signed up. I am excited about this book!

  • Pub. Date: August 2011
  • Publisher: Hyperion Books for Children
  • Format: Hardcover , 288pp
  • Sales Rank: 803,643
(From Barnes and Noble)

The Near Witch is only an old story told to frighten children.

If the wind calls at night, you must not listen. The wind is lonely, and always looking for company.

And there are no strangers in the town of Near.

These are the truths that Lexi has heard all her life.

But when an actual stranger—a boy who seems to fade like smoke—appears outside her home on the moor at night, she knows that at least one of these sayings is no longer true.

The next night, the children of Near start disappearing from their beds, and the mysterious boy falls under suspicion. Still, he insists on helping Lexi search for them. Something tells her she can trust him.

As the hunt for the children intensifies, so does Lexi’s need to know—about the witch that just might be more than a bedtime story, about the wind that seems to speak through the walls at night, and about the history of this nameless boy.

Part fairy tale, part love story, Victoria Schwab’s debut novel is entirely original yet achingly familiar: a song you heard long ago, a whisper carried by the wind, and a dream you won’t soon forget.

Review: Divergent by Veronica Roth

Synopsis: (from Barnes and Noble)
In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.
During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.
Debut author Veronica Roth bursts onto the literary scene with the first book in the Divergent series—dystopian thrillers filled with electrifying decisions, heartbreaking betrayals, stunning consequences, and unexpected romance.

My Review:
I can't say enough about this book. I was so excited to read it. I read some early reviews and there was really a lot of hype about it...... I was in NO WAY let down! I loved everything about this book!
Beatrice is a BAD ASS! She is my all time favorite heroine now.

When she chooses her faction she also chooses her new name, Tris. And Tris has to take some chances and do some really dangerous things. But this comes more natural to her that she thought it would. This distopian world is so awesome. I love the story world. Just imagine a world where you live in a faction, a group of people who devote themselves to some strong beliefs that dictate the way you dress, eat, act, and interact with others. And from birth you are taught to be this way, to talk and dress a specific way. And yours is just one faction, there are other factions and they have their own way of dressing, eating and interacting with people. Each faction is so different to extremes. The city is just what is left over of a world long ago, their buildings are either falling apart or are in a part of the city where they have been rebuilt. The brave jump on moving trains for their transportation. The selfless repair the buildings and help the needy for nothing in exchange. There is the Smart faction, and the honest faction as well.

When you become an adult at 16 years old you must make a choice if you want to stay with your family and your faction and continue with the way of life you have always known, or you can chose another path, another faction and not be allowed to see your family anymore. What would you do? Follow the path to who you feel you really are? Or stay with what you have always known?

Tris is brave she chooses to begin a new life and be who she feels she is meant to be. This is a hard choice for her only because she doesn't want to leave her family behind. She feels like she has betrayed her father.  But she has never really fit in, in her families faction.

So she begins her fight for her new life. This life she has chosen is a tough life, but she is strong. She finds friends, enemies , and maybe someone who could be more than a friend.

When some strange things happen and things aren't exactly what they are suppose to be, she begins to question her new faction. Then she begins to question everything.

While fighting to prove she is brave enough she is also fighting with her own feelings and these new things she finds out.

Tris will have to be even braver than she thought.......

This book just floored me. I am a huge Veronica Roth fan now. I felt so connected to Tris, and how she felt about things. She goes through so much in such a short time. Her world is beautiful, yet it is falling apart. I don't really think I could have asked for anything more in this book. I m dying to read book 2. I don't know how I will ever be able to wait for it.

Divergent fan #1

If you haven't read this book you are missing out on one hell of a book!

My rating: Duh 5 stars :)

I honestly cant wait to read this book. I read the short synopsis and I was intrigued.

Synopsis: (From Goodreads)

"Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days. The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old-girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.
The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

In this electrifying debut, Tahereh Mafi presents a world as riveting asThe Hunger Games and a superhero story as thrilling as The X-Men. Full of pulse-pounding romance, intoxicating villainy, and high-stakes choices, Shatter Me is a fresh and original dystopian novel—with a paranormal twist—that will leave readers anxiously awaiting its sequel.

IT'S MONDAY WHAT ARE YOU READING?

It's Monday! What are you reading is hosted by One Persons Journey through a world of Books. Each week we spotlight the books we are reading, planning on reading or just finished reading.

I'm currently reading:

Let me tell you, so far (and I am only on page 133 of 487)  I am loving this book! The heroine is amazing, she is strong, and smart, but has to really work for what she wants. Its amazing watching her struggling to chose between her family and a new life where she could actually fit in. When she does make her choice, the hard stuff isnt over, actually its just beginning. But it will all be worth it, especially if she finds love on the way.

Reading next:
Lies by Micheal Grant
Zombies Vs Unicorns by Several authors including Cassie Clare and Holly Black
The Iron King by Julie Kagawa
 (no specific order)
