Started reading City of Fallen Angels (eeeeek)

Im only just getting started on it but Im already hooked (of course). This is such a great series that I am sure I will devour this book very quickly. After waiting so long for this book to come out I have had it on my book shelf for a couple weeks now but just had not gotten to it yet, so many books and so little time. I just know that this book is going to be so great! And Im already pinning for Clockwork Prince! Review: Gone by Michael Grant

Title: Gone
Age Group: Young Adult
My Review: 5/5 Stars

Synopsis

In the blink of an eye. Everyone disappears. GONE.
Except for the young. Teens. Middle schoolers. Toddlers. But not one single adult. No teachers, no cops, no doctors, no parents. Just as suddenly, there are no phones, no internet, no television. No way to get help. And no way to figure out what's happened. Hunger threatens. Bullies rule. A sinister creature lurks. Animals are mutating. And the teens themselves are changing, developing new talents—unimaginable, dangerous, deadly powers—that grow stronger by the day. It's a terrifying new world. Sides are being chosen, a fight is shaping up. Townies against rich kids. Bullies against the weak. Powerful against powerless. And time is running out: On your birthday, you disappear just like everyone else...(synopsis from Barnes and Noble)

My review:
I wasn't sure how I would feel about this book to start with. I kept hearing it compared to Lord of The Flies and I tried to read Lord of The Flies once, but I just couldnt get into it. So I was alittle sceptical of Gone. But I am SOOOO glad I decided to give it a try. I absolutely LOVED it! I have fallen head over heels for Dystopian reads. And this book did not disappoint it really took off fast, I didnt have to wait and try to get into it. I was sucked in right on the first page. No wasting time or beating around the bush in this book. It is a roller coster of a read. One minute your a 14 year old boy sitting in class and the teachers disappear, the next your a girl riding in a truck with her grandfather and her dog when the grandfather disappears.

What would you do if all of a sudden there were no adults? The kids have to fend for them selves. It all falls on Sam to be a leader and help the other kids. But Sam is just a kid himself, and he's scared to but he cant show it. At first its all alittle surreal, I mean the little kids are so scared and the bigger kids are like "party!" but once it sinks in a little noone knows quite what to do with them selves.

Astrid is the smart girl who everyone likes and Sam has more than liked for a while, and has never talked to, till now.  The situation that they are thrown into has forced them together, and Sam isnt complaining to much. Its a great read with so many exciting things happening. It is alittle sad in the beginnig just because I am a mother and it broke my heart to see all these children motherless and fatherless. I kept picturing my kids if something like that were to happen and it was so heartbreaking. At one point I had to make myself keep reading hoping it would get better and it was so worth it ....I am soooo glad I read on. Dont get me wrong it does have some tear jerking parts to it and you will most likely tear up but it is an amazing read. Michael Grant wrote this book so that you could see how bad things could be without adult supervision but he thankfully left out some details that could have been horrible. I am glad he didnt go more into the situation of the babies and toddlers that were left alone when the parents vanished. Basicly it is a realitively small town so there werent very many of those, that would have killed me. Its amazing though how some of these 14, 13 and 12 year olds become so heroic and step up when it counts. I truley think these characters grow and learn and grab onto your heart strings so much just in this first book of the series. Please dont get taken aback by the sad parts of this book because he portrays them in a way that it is sad but I guess bearable. It is such a good read. I really got into it when the action took off.

On top of the whole "adults are gone" delima some very weird things are happening to some of the kids, they are developing strange powers. This is an exciting read! If you havent read it already READ IT! :D If you love Dystopian you will love it.

Synopsis

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.
During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.
Debut author Veronica Roth bursts onto the literary scene with the first book in the Divergent series—dystopian thrillers filled with electrifying decisions, heartbreaking betrayals, stunning consequences, and unexpected romance. (Synopsis from Barnes and Noble)

Synopsis
Sent away to college in America, Evangeline swore she would never return to England. Anger loses its value when tragedy forces her home to assume ownership of the family's beloved Greco-Roman museum.

Placing a foolish, drunken kiss on a Greek statue in the museum's basement, Evangeline unknowingly frees a Spartan prince from an evil oracle's curse. Suddenly, her lonely life is invaded by the rakish man with knowing emerald green eyes who never eats or sleeps, and seems to know her every thought and feeling.

Falling in love is dangerous, especially when it's with a man who has already been claimed by the bitter oracle, Demona. From the moment of her kiss, Evangeline is swept into Dorien's world of mystery, danger, and passion. The oracle's fury only mounts as they unravel Demona's darkest secrets, but not before Demona finds out about their unborn half-breed immortal twins.

Demona uses her knowledge of the future to manipulate and destroy, but sometimes love has a will, and a heart, of its own.
