Review: Delirium by Lauren Oliver

Title: Delirium
Author: Lauren Oliver
Genre: Young Adult
Publisher: Harper & Collins
Childrens Books
How I got it: Bought it
My rating: 5 out of 5 Loved it!

Synopsis

Ninety-five days, and then I'll be safe. I wonder whether the procedure will hurt. I want to get it over with. It's hard to be patient. It's hard not to be afraid while I'm still uncured, though so far the deliria hasn't touched me yet. Still, I worry. They say that in the old days, love drove people to madness. The deadliest of all deadly things: It kills you both when you have it and when you don't.
Lauren Oliver astonished readers with her stunning debut, Before I Fall. In a starred review, Publishers Weekly called it "raw, emotional, and, at times, beautiful. An end as brave as it is heartbreaking." Her much-awaited second novel fulfills her promise as an exceptionally talented and versatile writer.

Review: Darkness Becomes Her by Kelly Keaton

Synopsis

Ari can’t help feeling lost and alone. With teal eyes and freakish silver hair that can’t be changed or destroyed, Ari has always stood out. And after growing up in foster care, she longs for some understanding of where she came from and who she is.
Her search for answers uncovers just one message from her long dead mother: Run. Ari can sense that someone, or something, is getting closer than they should. But it’s impossible to protect herself when she doesn’t know what she’s running from or why she is being pursued.
She knows only one thing: she must return to her birthplace of New 2, the lush rebuilt city of New Orleans. Upon arriving, she discovers that New 2 is very...different. Here, Ari is seemingly normal. But every creature she encounters, no matter how deadly or horrifying, is afraid of her.
Ari won’t stop until she knows why. But some truths are too haunting, too terrifying, to ever be revealed.

Review:
I have to say I was excited about this book before I started reading it. I read a review of it on another blog (I cant remember whos blog it was I wish I could so I could give them credit) and after I read the review I knew I had to read this book. It has it all, a little bit of supernatural, alittle bit of greek mythology, and a splash of kick butt heroine.  I really enjoyed the the dystopian aspect of it to. The main character Ari is such a beautiful character, she has beautiful silver hair and electric teal green eyes and yet she thinks it makes her freakish and tries to hide her beautiful hair. She has the down to earth qualities to her that make her so likable, she isn't very girly but still so so pretty. To get the info she needs about her mom and her past she sets out to the city of New 2 which use to be New Orleans before a natural disaster destroyed it and it was bought from the US by some if its citizens. When she tries to find out about her past she learns that she is stronger that she thought when she runs into all kinds of things that she didnt even know existed, and has to fight for her life. She has to find out what happened to her mother and where her father is, but can she handle what she finds? Through out the book she proves over and over that she is strong and can hold her own. Her only weakness seems to be her self control around Sebastian the sexy love interest who has some secrets of his own. Sebastian is a New 2 native and knows his way around so he helps Ari find out about her past and maybe a little about herself in the process. With new friends that are different from anyone Ari has ever met she will have to trust herself and the others to survive this and figure out who and what she really is.  I love that this book is so different from the other books I have been reading lately, Kelly Keaton really puts her own spin on the supernatural world and the mythological world combined, its absolutely amazing! If your tired of the usual vamps, werewolves and such, (dont get me wrong I still LOVE my vamp and werewolf books, but its not for everyone) this is your book, it has some vamps but this is NOT a vampire book!  If you haven't read this book yet you have got to got out and get it! I am already impatiently waiting for the second. Its a heart pounding, thrilling, one of a kind story that will have you pining for more!

Absolutely 5 out of 5 stars!!!!!
